There is a space in Clintonville called Firefly Play CafĂ© where children get in for $4-$5 and adults are free. They have a lot of toys and play sets for the kids and sell coffee and treats. It’s great for cold or raining days.

Teresa is going to have a very busy day with her open house tomorrow so we moved our normal Sunday breakfast out to Saturday. Slane and I walked while Teresa and Rachael drove. Afterward Slane and I walked to the store to get cups to start our seeds in, Roma Tomatoes and Peppers. Slane and I had just enough time after that make it to story time at the library, it was supposed to focused on Dr. Seuss.
We felt cheated. They read 1 book,” Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You”, tossed around a few facts about the man and then sent us into the activity room. I thought the activities were a little above Slane and we started to leave. He told me he wanted to stay and “go next door”. “Next door” with what they call the activity room adjoining the story room. We went and everything really was beyond him, but he had a great time drawing a picture for mom, complete with feathers. I don’t know why someone hasn’t thought of it before.
Later Rachael and I started our seeds. I had no idea how many seeds they gave you in those little envelops, we could have started our own farm. Rachael didn’t want to get her hands dirty and even when she did she never warmed up to the idea.
Rachael has been doing very well on her bike, as long as she keeps pedaling. Of course she likes to slow down and chat.

Day at the park
The temperature here is in the 60’s and Teresa took the kids to lunch at the park. McDonalds isn’t her 1st choice for lunch but it was fun for the kids.

Saturday
Saturday was fun. Teresa had a show so I fed the kids and we hit storytime. Storytime was about animals in the American wilderness. Moos, wolf, owls, etc. The Activity was making your own owl so we made owls out of construction paper.
After naps we hit the Audubon Park. Slane is climbing more and more, but he was concentrating so much on his juice box he fell off the wall and into the mulch.
Kindergarten
Friday was a big day for Rachael! The kindergarten teacher came to the preschool and tested her skills for kindergarten. She had to know how to spell her name, put on her jacket, open a milk carton and a number of other skill they feel a person of her age needs to know. You can’t see them, but there are a number of stickers at the bottom of her name plaque of things she was tested on. This is a big deal!

Mixed Company
Yesterday Yale’s mixed acapella group, Mixed Company, visited St. Mary’s school in German Village. One of the teachers was nice enough to get a picture with the pre-K class and the singers. Rachael is on the far left.
