Slane at Audubon
It was so warm and sunny yesterday afternoon I took Slane to the Audubon Park. He must have been beat, because earlier in the day he was at Goodale park with Teresa and Rachael.
After supper we moved Flip, the magic fish, to her new home. The woman at the pet store told Teresa this fish could live for decades and keep growing with proper care. If that's the case her next home is going to be Lake Erie.

Goodale Park
Slane and Rachael hit Goodale Park to day. We are supposed to hit 64 degrees today, but I think they would have found themselves outside if the temperature were 34! These two have been bouncing off the walls inside with the rotten weather and it’s hard to schedule our selves around the indoor play areas.

PB & Jazz
Today was PB & Jazz at the Lincoln Theatre. It wasn’t in the theater, it was in the ball room and they could have used twice the space. We were happy to see it so well attended. Tickets were $5 each and the kids each got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie and juice. We didn’t even think about the sandwich until near the end and when I went up to the snack counter all they had left were jelly sandwiches. They were a little stale, but Rachael and Slane ate them as if we don’t feed them ever. The music was great and Slane danced most of the time. Rach just wanted to hang out with mom. A nice guy gave up his seat for Rachael and I’m embarrassed to say I was impressed.
Boat Project
Our boat project has hit a bit of a snag. What I am using for sail cloth actually frays very easily so I’m trying a cheap and easy seem of glue. I may try glue and cloth. Slane was helping me and that’s his breakfast in the background. He wanted to know about all my tools and is excited to finally get his boat.

Coloring the boats
We colored our boats this evening. I still don’t know what I’m going to make the sails out of. House wrap would be perfect, but I don’t think they sell it a yard at a time and there aren’t a lot of new construction projects around German Village where I could pick up a piece of scrap.
Candy Bars
These are the candy bars Rachael and I made. They are no bake cookie on top, marshmallow in the middle and a graham cracker crust. They are great! We are going to make another batch for a fund raiser at Rachael's school.

Working on the boats
Rachael helped me glue on the keels. She held the blocks of wood together while I tightened the clamps. She was great about following directions and she seems to be getting excited about our little project.

Wood Boats
This is my newest project with the kids. These are very rudimentary wood boats. I’m going to have the kids help me sand them then I will paint them white and they can color them. I was going to have Rachael use paints and Slane use crayon, but Slane would have felt left out. After that we can glue in the masts and put on the sails, rudder and keel. These will sail, but how well is anyone’s guess. If they like it we can build others. This is a scrap lumbar project.
